• Dr. Marcin Herok is currently a Oberassistent in the Caflisch group.

    Mission Statement:

I did my PhD in Biological Sciences at the International Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology in Warsaw, Poland. During my previous work, I gained extensive experience in cellular and molecular biology, mainly in the field of cancer. I investigated the molecular mechanism of breast cancer resistance to treatment involving DNA damage responses and
repair pathways, as well as novel mechanisms of cancer chemoresistence involving chaperone proteins. I joined the Caflisch group in March 2021 as a postdoctoral researcher in an epitranscriptomic project focused on studing the inhibition of the METTL3 writer enzyme as a potential anticancer therapy for acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and other cancers. In my free time I enjoy traveling, good food and rock climbing.

Dr. Marcin Herok has been a member of the Caflisch group from 03/2021 - current.
