Summary:
Yaozong Li majored in general chemistry and biotechnology in his undergraduate education. He then obtained a master's degree in computer-aided drug discovery (CADD) under the supervision of Prof. Yun Tang at the East China University of Science and Technology. After ~3 years of industrial research, he continued his study as a PhD candidate during 2012 to 2017 under the supervision of Dr. Kwangho Nam at Umeå University in Sweden. He focused on studying catalytic reaction mechanisms of human kinases using molecular dynamics (MD) simulations and MD-based free energy calculation methods (e.g., alchemical free energy calculations).
He joined the group of Prof. Dr. Amedeo Caflisch in Apr. 2018 to study how epitranscriptomic modifications (e.g., RNA methylation) regulate functions of diverse of epigenetic proteins using in silico methods. Method development (e.g., regarding alchemical free energy calculations) facilitating drug discovery projects will also be involved in his postdoc research. Besides scientific study, he likes snowboarding.
Dr. Yaozong Li was a member of the Caflisch group from 04/2018 - 12/2022.
